Dear Prospective Tutors,

Thank you for offering to participate in the American Youth Literacy Foundation's reading tutoring program. It is because of volunteers like you that we are able to provide help with reading skills to children who cannot afford private tutoring but who need lots of help with their reading skills development.

In 2012 we opened our doors to tutors nationwide to sign up and begin our training. This was made possible by our new, online training course which is a series of tutorials that you do at your own pace. Pass the quizzes and then take the certification tests and you will be on your way to teaching reading to kids in your community.

If you are in grades 10-12 or a college undergrad and want to get involved in our student volunteer program you can fill out the information form and we will send you a welcome packet. Adults can also complete our online course and become tutors. Just fill out the form to get started.

Our model is a very simple one that allows anyone, anywhere in the country (or the world) to participate, provided you have the passion and commitment to learn basic literacy instruction skills. We hope you will join the Class of 2013 and become a part of our tutoring team.
